Today marks the official launch of the World Powerboat Racing Association (WPRA), an all-new sanctioning body dedicated to advancing the sport of powerboat racing through a transparent, racer-focused, and professionally governed structure.

Built upon a foundation of modern protocols and best practices, the WPRA’s mission is clear: To elevate racing to a professional level through transparent governance, consistent rule enforcement, elite event management, and a racer-first focus. WPRA welcomes all racers, all classes.

“Our racers deserve an organization that puts their interests, safety, and success first,” said founding WPRA Chairperson Jeff Harris. “We’re creating a modern, innovative framework that sets new high standards for competition, safety, and integrity.”

Key Goals for the WPRA Include:

• Building a strong, loyal national racer membership.
• Securing strategic, long-term corporate sponsorships.
• Achieving national television and media coverage.
• Establishing a premier National Championship Series.

By centering operations around the racers and fans, and deploying the highest level of professional event management, WPRA is poised to reinvigorate the offshore racing world.

The 2025 Season

WPRA’s inaugural season will feature all events produced by Professional Racing Offshore (PRO) and Race World Offshore (RWO), showcasing elite racing at some of the most iconic venues in the U.S.
