Taylor Scism, the daughter of Marine Technology Inc. (MTI) founder and president Randy Scism, has been promoted to company vice president, the company announced this morning.

Randy's wife, Cherell Scism, had been the company's unofficial VP for years, acting as a kind of company controller. However, MTI finally felt the time had come to fill the role in an official capacity and taking care of day-to-day activities. Their daughter Taylor, meanwhile, has been a growing force within the company for several years, handling marketing and PR and, most recently, working as MTI's client relations manager. In addition, she catapulted to fame as an offshore racer, driving an MTI alongside famed throttleman Johnny Tomlinson. Together they became World Champions in the very Factory 450 Stock class that she created, and that MTIs have dominated in.

"I am very excited to be entering into my new role as vice president of MTI," Taylor told Speedboat. "While my degree is in manufacturing and engineering, I know every day will be a learning opportunity. I'm excited to embark on this journey. I love the products we make, and I believe we have some of the most talented people in the industry making them. I aim to always be pushing boundaries and innovate, starting with our new 482 inboard catamaran launch at the Miami Boat Show. I hope to see many of you there!"

In addition to the new 482, MTI will have a number of other boats on display at the Miami show, including a 50'V, a 42'V and a 440X Cat.
