Powerboat P1 Management, the international marine motorsport promoter headquartered in the United Kingdom, has announced the appointment of Tim Ramsberger as President and Chief Executive of its United States operation, underscoring the company’s mission to strengthen its leading position in the market in line with its global strategic plan.

Vastly experienced, with considerable knowledge of the sports, entertainment and tourism industries, Ramsberger will be based in Florida and take up his new position immediately. Powerboat P1 Management’s CEO, Azam Rangoonwala will continue in his global role at the London office and become Chairman of Powerboat P1 USA.

In line with the continued advancement of Powerboat P1’s organizational structures to effectively support the key pillars of the strategic plan, Ramsberger will have overarching responsibility for all of Powerboat P1 USA’s commercial, race event, marketing, communications and digital activities in the United States to deliver an integrated revenue and events growth strategy for the P1 Offshore and P1 AquaX brands.

With a proven track record in business development, Ramsberger has over three decades of executive business, legal, sports management and tourism experience for globally-recognized organizations including Disney Sports, FIFA World Cup, Olympic Organizing Committee, Andretti Sports Marketing and Indy Car. He joins Powerboat P1 USA from Visit St. Pete/Clearwater on Florida’s Gulf Coast where he has been Chief Operating Officer since 2016, successfully rebuilding and rebranding the Sports Commission and Community/Brand Engagement departments to deliver significant growth in room nights and consumer engagement. The role involved financial and budget planning and management, with the emphasis on strategic initiatives.

Rangoonwala, who will continue to lead the company’s national and international business development including new events, major sponsorships and growing competitor numbers, said: “In a rapidly evolving and highly competitive sports industry still dealing with the impact of the pandemic, it’s vital that we look at our business differently and find new ways to continue to develop our primary market in the United States and increase revenues for reinvestment in the sport’s future growth. This new role reflects that need and positions Powerboat P1 not only to exploit new revenue streams for the benefit of the sport but also to make marine motorsport more attractive and accessible. Tim’s extensive experience and accomplishments in key sectors such as financial and strategic planning, operational management, sponsorship and partnership development, and sports and entertainment law make him ideally placed to lead our US team at this exciting time. I am looking forward to working with him to develop our existing business and to identify and convert new opportunities.”

Ramsberger’s appointment comes at a time of change and growth for both the world of marine motorsport and Powerboat P1 USA, where he will focus on the core business, Florida race events and support the Chairman on business development opportunities to realize P1 USA’s commercial and sporting potential.

“I’m thrilled and honored to join the P1 team and lead our efforts to set a new standard of excellence for Offshore Racing,” he said. “Growing up in and around a variety of watersports together with my professional career in international events, motorsports and other aspirational lifestyle sports and events provides a solid foundation for the new journey ahead.”
