Mystic Powerboats of DeLand, FL, builder of luxury center-console vees and go-fast catamarans, is preparing to deliver a 2021 M4200 center console to repeat customer John Tumino of New Jersey. Previously the owner of a Formula 352 FasTech, a Fountain 40′ Lighting and several other boats, the Mystic is his second consecutive 42′, after having purchased a 2018 model he saw at the Miami Boat Show that was powered by Mercury Marine 350 Verado outboards.

“When we went to the Miami show and looked at all the center-console models, my wife saw the Mystic and just fell in love with  the high gunnel sides and the look of the large hardtop,” Tumino tells Speedboat. “That was the only boat she wanted us to buy. It was an easy choice to make.”

That first M4200 proved to be a wise choice, he says, because the boat’s fit and finish and performance were second to none.

“Everything about it was great,” he says. “It was like nothing you could imagine. It was amazing is rough conditions—never even got a splash of water on the boat. There’s room for 18 people. It’s been just perfect. It’s never had any kind of an issue—not so much as a loose screw. After using it for three seasons, I thought I’d buy a new one, and I ended up getting most of the money I paid for the first 42′ in the trade-in.”

In addition to several upgrades, such as A/C and cooler electronics, the 2020 model will be powered by three Mercury Racing 450R outboards, so Tumino will be looking forward to a speed upgrade as well. He says he expects the boat to be delivered around June 25, after which he’ll use the boat over the summer on Barnegat Bay and Long Beach Island off the Jersey coast. During the winter, he’ll bring it down to Miami to participate in poker runs.

Working with Mystic owner John Cosker, Sales and Marketing Chief Greg Weber and General Manager Ryan Zivitski has been a consummate pleasure, according to Tumino, who describes Mystic as a big family. “They’re just really awesome people, and that’s what draws me to them as a customer,” he says. “They’re so hands-on, and are so eager to help out where they can. I have friends with boats from other manufacturers, and they don’t get the same kind of service that I get from the guys at Mystic.”
