Marine Technology Inc. (MTI) of Wentzville, MO, has unveiled the newest model in its center-console lineup: the 422V.
“We are so excited about the brand new 422V," said MTI founder and President Randy Scism. "It is a project we’ve been working on for the last two years. It has taken everything we have learned over the last 10 years from all our center-console lineup and incorporated in into the next generation of the 42V. Our customers help drive our innovation."
The 422V is the next generation of the 42V, which originally came out in 2014 using MTI's patented hull design. Highlighted new features include full private head in the cabin, extended cabin size, boarding steps in the bow, recessed wind deflectors, dock doors on both port and starboard, larger aft area, raised helm seating, and all-new interior. Customers will now be able to place orders for the new 422V.
"Customers are always giving us suggestions, and we're always thinking about how to carry those suggestions into a new model," MTI Vice President Taylor Scism told Speedboat. "These changes will satisfy some of our customers' needs. For example, one of the big things we always hear from wives and girlfriends is how to improve the private heads. So now we offer a full private head in the cabin. That's been very exciting to debut, and I believe we're one of the only few out there with a private head in the cabin in the under-50' size range."
She added that she expects the performance of the 422V to be nothing short of gangbusters. "The performance is going be great on it," she said. "The Mercury Racing 500Rs are such a good match for this boat."
In crafting the new 422V, MTI incorporated many of the features from its popular 50V. It will be one of the few center consoles on the market with a full private head in the cabin in a 42-foot size range. Meanwhile, the seating in the back is completely different to created added room. Dual dock doors (with an integrated boarding ladder on the right dock door) makes docking anywhere, from either side of the boat, much easier. In addition, front boarding steps make boarding much easier on the higher docks—especially in Florida—on either side.
MTI has built additional and new storage areas, with molded hatches, into the 422V, including in the front bow. Other new changes include recessed wind deflectors and raised seating for easier visibility. The 422V's cabin also sports a new configuration, with windows added for natural lighting.
The boat's interior adopts a completely new look and design, with a larger dash that's able to accommodate up to a 27-inch Garmin in the center.
