As offshore racing heats up this weekend with Race World Offshore's Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City, IN, competitors Tyler Miller and Myrick Coil will be piloting Taylor Scism's T/S Motorsports in Factory Stock class—and they're planning to race the rest of the season as well.

Coil told Speedboat that after this weekend's bout, the pair will take the action to Clearwater and Key West, FL, to round out the season's Factory Stock blitz. They will also be doing double-duty, campaigning their Monster Energy/M•CON entry in Pro Class 1 class as well.

Previously, Miller and Coil completed two Factory Stock heats at the Lake of the Ozarks. "We were lucky enough to get the win in both of those races," Coil told Speedboat. "This weekend, it looks like we'll have as many as five boats in this class, including the new Good Boy Vodka and Jackhammer/Manatee Marine boats."

Driving T/S Motorsports—the boat owned by MTI Vice President Taylor Scism, who pioneered the class and won the World Championship with throttleman Johnny Tomlinson—has not been without its challenges, according to Coil. "It's actually harder to drive than I thought," he says, "and for Tyler, it's probably harder to throttle because with the Mercury Racing 500R outboards, he has to watch a lot more of the engine parameters than he's used to, such as the water pressure. In Pro Class 1, he's used to stern drives. You can trim the boat where you want it—there are water pickups on the engine. So whenever he wants it to go quicker or faster, he's used to be able to grab more trim. But now he has to watch a gauge to make sure that he doesn't do something that'll affect the temperature of the engine and put us into Guardian mode."

What special advice did Taylor Scism give the boys who are commandeering her MTI? "She just said, 'Take care of my baby—go fast and win!'"

Miller and Coil will race their Monster Energy/M•CON boat this weekend as well. "It'll be the largest fleet we've had all year," he says. "It's actually pretty bumpy out here right now; I think Sunday it'll be less so than on Saturday. We're excited. We kind of got our butts kicked by DeFalco Racing in New Orleans, so we're out to try to redeem ourselves and put this boat back on top."
