Tyler Speer has always had a love for motorsports. The son of dragboat racer Tim Speer (founder of the Woodstock, GA-based service center ProBoat), Tyler began racing motocross at age 5 and was a go-kart fanatic at age 12. Speer, 24, has since carved out a winning reputation racing cars, snaring a bevy of top-five finishes competing in the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) circle-track circuit.

Last year, Speer decided to branch out into dragboats, competing in a few races in the 10-Second Modified Eliminator class—and getting a taste of victory. Now, in preparation for a full-fledged drag-racing season in 2015, Speer plans to make a major splash this year campaigning a Norm Grimes Kurtis 501 in Pro Mod Class in events ranging from Texas to the East Coast. He’ll be joined by two others—Forrest Warren in Top Eliminator and Ron Bond in Modified Eliminator—as part of a new team. With the knowledge base and full support of ProBoat behind the team, Speer is a force to be reckoned with. In addition, he’ll be getting help from Bob Montgomery and his Liquid Quiker team (holder of the IHBA national ET Record in 2008). He’ll also be enjoying sponsorship from Autometer Gauges and Remflex Exhaust Headers (builder of manifold gaskets and other products). Performance Boats wishes Tyler and his team the best success in 2014 and beyon
