Details: The Hartwell Lake Poker Run kicks off the summer boating season in the area. More than 200 boaters converge at Portman Arena, then visit five different scenic locations on the lake to collect poker cards. At the end of the day, boaters gather back at the arena to see who has the best hand. A cash prize of $1500 will be awarded to the best hand, with second and third place hands winning prizes of $750 and $500.

In addition to the action of the poker run itself, there will be great entertainment over the weekend. This year, a new event, the Thursday night Welcome Party at The Galley restaurant welcomes guests for a long weekend of fun.

On Friday, boaters will enjoy a fun run to Clemson Marina and tie-up at the Hartwell Dam for a great day on the lake. Friday evening, open registration is followed by a street party with Anderson’s widely popular The

Eric Scott Band will performing. The band will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The boat poker run takes place Saturday and is a unique and beautiful site on the lake as hundreds of boats travel across the lake for fun and to raise funds for Meals on Wheels. Following the poker run, an after party takes place back at Portman at approximately 6 p.m. The entire community is invited to the Welcome Party, Friday night street party and Saturday after party even if not running a boat in the Poker Run itself.

Campbell Crane Rental and Old Stone Tractor Company are the title sponsors for this event. To register for the Poker Run, visit www.HartwellLakePokerRun.com.

All proceeds from this event will help feed the homebound elderly and disabled of Anderson County through the Meals on Wheels home delivery meal program. Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers about 580 meals each weekday and nearly 450 volunteers give their time to assist in this mission.

The event welcomes boaters and land-lubbers alike. Join the fun and help support a worthy cause. For more information, visit www.HartwellLakePokerRun.com ; call 864.225.6800; or email april@acmow.org.
