DWR/Doug Wright Powerboats of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, whose boats have enjoyed many wins in offshore racing's Factory Stock, Super stock classes, are now planning an invasion into Pro Class 1—widely regarded as the premier or top-tier class in offshore powerboat racing.

DWR owner Justin Wagner tells Speedboat that the builder's newest model will be the 447C1, designed and rigged for participation in Pro Class 1. "It's going to be pretty badass," he says. "It maybe ready for an end of season debate but most likely for next season.  We will get the 447 100% to full potential before the public gets to see it in action. We're working on the mold right now."

"What happened is that we saw a demand for more of our larger models “ he explains. "Between that and the demand for a Pro Class 1 boat, and the challenge of meeting the UIM qualifications for Class 1, we decided to build the all-new 447.  We designed a whole new deck and bottom on it, and by doing so, took the boat to another level. It's all the latest and greatest technology, with the proven running surface attributes from our 39. It's a wider boat than our past 44. It's truly designed to perform and dominate in Class 1."

Wagner said that DWR will offer the 447 in a pleasure version, and with outboard twin or quad engines as well.

"It's got some incredible attributes—not just the same technology that has been just floating around for the last 20 years," Wagner said. "Between the layup and the specs and design, With the input of our race director Gary Stray, lead hull designer Doug Wright and our entire team, this boat's going be a complete animal. It'll have the new six- or eight-passenger cockpit, and an option for a canopy, as well as all the top-notch luxury rigging that we have."
