They don't call him Racing Rusty for nothing...

Offshore throttleman Rusty Williams—who won World and National Championships racing with Myrick Coil in the Performance Boat Center #S-21 competitor—will be returning to the same class he won his titles in, with the same boat, but this time, with a different driver.

Williams will be teaming up with longtime client and close friend Chad Rudesill from Hammond, LA, who just purchased the 32-foot Doug Wright formerly raced as Performance Boat Center.

Rudesill, is no stranger to Williams or offshore performance boating. The pair have spent considerable time together on and off the water, and will soon become neighbors in the upscale Harpers Cov lakeside development in Osage Beach, MO. They recently ran Rudesill's gorgeous red and white, closed canopy MTI 390XR, powered by twin Mercury Racing 500Rs, at the Tickfaw 200 event in Springfield, LA.

The newly formed Say Less (MF) Offshore Racing Team plans to make its competitive debut at the upcoming 2nd Annual XINSURANCE Shootout Offshore, presented by Professional Racing Offshore (PRO), taking place June 21–22 in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.

"We've been talking about it for a couple years now, but now that he's not racing for Performance, we decided to go for it," Rudesill told Speedboat. "The water on the Lake of the Ozarks is calm, so we're going to give it a shot."

Williams and Rudesill plan to see how everything goes for this race and then make their decisions from there. They will begin testing as early as tomorrow morning.

"We're pretty excited! Chad's always talked about wanting to do it and with the race coming up here next weekend, we decided to go racing," Williams told Speedboat. "It's fresh water, and it's local so we don't have to transport the boat anywhere. As long as we don't totally screw up, we're going to go out, and if we do good, we're going to run some more races."

Williams started his racing career in 2019 as the driver alongside Performance Boat Center co-worker Myrick Coil in the hyper-competitive Super Stock class. the duo quickly found success together, securing a 2nd place finish at the 2019 Race World Offshore Key West Championship. Williams then assumed the throttleman position for the 2021 season to obtain the National and World Championship titles that year.

Due to increasing workloads at Performance Boat Center, Williams and Coil ran abbreviated race seasons for the last two seasons, with PBC ultimately deciding to put the Super Stock competitor up for sale late-November, 2024.

With Rudesill in LOTO for the past several days for the two-day Powered by Performance Invitational event, which invites owners of Performance Powerboats, MTIs and Sunsations (all brands that PBC sells), Williams and Rudesill had plenty of time to nurture the idea and see it to fruition. Say Less Racing was born.
