Organizers of the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run have canceled the event scheduled to take place July 17-19, 2020.

After previously voting to green-light the event, the poker run committee decided to pull the plug because the route would have taken participants into Canadian waters.

“Half of the run is in Canadian waters, and we’re not allowed to cross the border,” organizer and event president Bobby Cantwell told Speedboat. “Canada just extended the no-travel ban through July 22.”

The 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run benefits the Make-a-Wish Foundation and River Hospital, and unfolds in the community of Clayton, NY. Traditionally, the event begins with a welcoming Street Party on Thursday, which is July 16 of this year.
