MCON Wins Super Cat Race in Key West

The final race in the first day of Race World Offshore’s World Championships in Key West saw Super Cat competitors facing off, as well as a couple in Superboat Extreme Class. The Super Cat event featured two double-duty racers who had won in their classes earlier in the day: Brit Lilly in WHM Motorsports and Myrick Coil in MCON. (Lilly had won in Stock Vee Class in his LSB Hurricane of Awesomeness, while Coil won in Super Stock class in Performance Boat Center / FASS Fuel Systems).

MCON, the 388 Skater featuring Coil racing with Tyler Miller, took an early lead and never looked back, grabbing the checkered flag at the conclusion of the 11-lap race. In second place was Canada Homes, another 388 Skater, campaigned by John Tomlinson and Lorne Leibel, and bringing home third was Chariots of Fire, with John Paul Emmons and Jimmy McIntyre. Vinnie Diorio and Simon Prevost of Sweetwater finished in fourth place. Graydel (with Chris Grant and Billy Moore) and WHM (with Lilly and Jay Muller) rounded out the top six in Super Cat.

In Superboat Extreme, Huski Wear—previously campaigned as Miss GEICO—was victorious, with its former navigator, Sir Steve Curtis, in the cockpit with driver Carlos de Quesada. (Curtis won his first Key West race back in 1985, driving a Cougar built by his own family. In second place was the 44’9″ Mytic Lucas Oil, with Nigel Hook and Jay Johnson.

Key West racing continues on Friday and Sunday.
